Institute of Fashion Technology Kerala presents a study in bold contrast at BFW Day Two
At the 27th edition of Bangalore Fashion Week, the Institute of Fashion Technology Kerala brought a student showcase shaped by sharp colour blocking, fluid drape and graphic surface detail. Black, red and metallic accents defined the collection’s disciplined, contemporary mood.
Bengaluru, 16 October 2026 — The Institute of Fashion Technology Kerala presented a student showcase at Bangalore Fashion Week’s Day Two, with looks that moved between structure and flow. Across the selection, the palette stayed anchored in black and red, occasionally interrupted by gold and silver accents that drew the eye to the waist, sleeve and bodice.
The collection worked with long, lean lines and strong contrasts. A black floor-length dress with a high neckline and a thigh-high slit was cinched with a vivid red belt, while another look paired a red blouse and wide, patterned skirt with a black overlay scattered with small motifs. The silhouettes carried a poised, almost ceremonial quality, balancing coverage with flashes of skin.
Several ensembles explored asymmetry and colour blocking. One dress split the body into black and red halves, with a sculptural cut-out at the front and a printed motif placed low on the skirt. Another look used a black outer layer over a red skirt, finished with a patterned neckline and a soft, cape-like fall that added movement to the straight runway line.
Surface work played an important role in the collection’s identity. The sleeves of one black gown were detailed with circular motifs, while other garments carried tiny dotted embellishments or printed borders at the hem and sleeve edge. These details gave the looks a handcrafted, student-led energy without disturbing the clarity of the silhouettes.
Seen together, the showcase read as a study in contrast: disciplined tailoring against fluid drape, matte black against saturated red, and graphic placement against restrained form. The result was contemporary and assured, with each look carrying a distinct visual rhythm while remaining within a coherent design language.
