The very first Bangalore Fashion will be held from July 23 to July 26 this year. S Mahajan, director, Dream Merchants, organisers of the new fashion week, says, "Many big models, designers and actors are from the south [India]. Many fashion weeks happen across the country but no such event takes place here, so we thought Bangalore is just the right place to start one." Many International buyers are expected, "but it's too early to give out names". This new edition to the growing list of fashion weeks is good news for designers. As Samant Chauhan says, "This will mean further exposure. A smaller city has the same potential as bigger fashion hubs like Mumbai and Delhi."   DNA (Bangalore) - 5th May 2009 Fashion To Get BANGALORED by Priyadarshini Nandy Amid much curiosity and some skepticism, the Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week finally gets the green signal and is due to hit fashion ramps in July. Dream Merchants, the event organisers, are keen to ensure the show is as good as it can be. Mirza L Baig, consultant to Dream Merchants, is busy coordinating designer and models. "We've invited a few big designers from the country to be part of the show. Given that this is the first Fashion Week, we will need a lot of support from designers. Models and Designers wishing to showcase their collection can register online on the official website," says Mirza. A few members have already been invited to be part of the panel. Stylist Gouri Kapur is one of them, and has been taken on as a style consultant. "It's a good initiative. If Kolkota can have a Fashion Week, I don't see why we shouldn't have one. The pre-event party of the Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week to be held in July got everyone together and a short preview of a few designs was held. With over 35 fashion shows planned for the fashion week, local and national designers will showcase their collections.
