I
am a fashion designer, and have been putting my innate desire to create ethnic
and western dresses right during my college days at JD Institute of Fashion designing,
Bangalore for friends and their circle.
Learnt finer market nuances
with my first break with label "OPTIONS" in Bangalore and got more technical.
Colors play a significant role in my life, as a painter. They reflect
my state of mind & define my dressing style. Naturally they show in my creations.
I believe fashion should be fun, colorful & above all it should be comfortable.
Whatever the occasion and outfit - traditional, casual or a formal, I should make
you feel good.
Eager, to travel the path, I created First label "PEARS
Collection" in 1999 in partnership, creating blend of ethnic and western
dresses for working women.
Well, Journey had just begun and to learn
more I moved on to work for best international Industry Brands as Merchandiser,
enriching myself with technical knowledge and developed eye for detail.
My
label "AM COUTURE" is to provide couture designs that are comfortable
and a reflection of current trends, styles and fusion of cultures. Creations under
Label are available in some of the high fashioned boutiques like United Designers
in Hyderabad, Vasmay Creations and select exhibitions. Soon complete line will
be available at Label Boutique and design studio at Bangalore.
The
collection I will be showcasing in Bangalore Fashion Week is inspired from "Colors
of Buddhism "these outfits will show the Indian culture with ting of western
styling in natural soft silks and hand woolblend embroideries and will have colors
like black, browns, golden harvest, blues, maroon , Fire pit ……. This
will be a different blend and combinations which will be bring the unique Blend
of indo western for Indian couture. Taking best from both worlds,
these will be electric mix of drapes, textured hand embroideries; most embroideries
will be inspired by local dressing style that one come across in remote area's

Anitha Vadivel
Anitha's first steps in fashion began in Bangalore while
she attended Srishti School of Art and design. During her time there she won a
national contest to design a swimsuit for the Kingfisher Calendar 2006.
Wanting
to refine her skills and give them a bigger platform she attended Parsons The
New School for Design in New York City where she was taught by some of the brightest
names in the industry. She spent three years in New York interning and working
with some of the finest design houses like Donna Karan and Marc Jacobs.
Anitha's
label Nyshka Creations is a vision that has been in incubation since her classroom
days at Parsons. Her aesthetics are hugely influenced by the experience of Manhattan
and its unique fashion sense. She calls this collection Hide and Seek and incorporates
quirky imaginative details from paper folds and origami into clothing details.
A conventional chicness prevails in her looks with edgy elements of surprise and
easy to slip into styles. She strongly believes in styles that get noticed without
being loud.

Hailing
from a family that was successfully involved in the fashion business that cast
early influences on the young designer, and helped her evolve a high level of

Babita's involvement in fashion and style took flight from a rented garage in
Santa Cruz - Mumbai, way back in 1988, where she set up her first business under

Shipra
Chawla, post her extensive training at India's premier institute NIFT, and after
6 years of grounding work experience with some of the best buying agencies, decided
to pursue her Masters in Fashion Design at DOMUS ACADEMY in Milan, supported by
a scholarship won through an international design competition. With extensive
exposure to some of the best Italian names, she developed projects as a part of
the school's curriculum further elevating her skills to an altogether new level.
Thereafter rejecting an internship offer from Balenciaga in Paris, and numerous
other lucrative job openings in India, she decided to join Mad Kassa Srl, a relatively
new but dynamic design studio based in the heart of Milan, which is where the

Two
years ago the label Yaksi was launched by Deepti Reddy which has been retailing
as a boutique store that interacts with the bride and makes personalized designs.
The fabrics used are a mix of traditional south Indian and North Indian Silks
with some subtle introductions with present day fabrics.
She has recently
launched footwear as part of her distinctive ensemble along with her special line
of wedding wear for children.
Deepti's influences have come from her
growing up years in the Telangana regions of Andhra Pradesh by the jewellery and
silks of the Nizami Provinces and likes to re create the magic of the South Indian
elegance into her fabrics.

Kavita
Chandak graduated in Fashion Design from NIFT, Kolkata in 2006. Her initial keen
interest in fine art, sculpture, performing art, paintings and many more, fuel
her aesthetic inspiration and led her to focus on Design. At 26, she launched
her signature label "Aanukriti" for garments. Kavita believes in creating
designs that redefine innovation and elegance. The simplicity of her work shows
understated refinement in which she excels. Her work satisfies both aesthetics,
as well as design aspirations based on changing lifestyles of the people. As
a promising fashion designer, she started her career with Anshu Modi, a Kolkata
based designer and worked under her for 6 months. Kavita designed and customized
garments for US based designer Rahela Malik for her brand Rahela Inc. and for
various clients in cities across India. She has retailed under own brand name
"Aanukriti" in stores like - "Little India" and "Bandhini"
in Kolkata. She has also participated in exhibitions in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai
and Jaipur.
At present the label retails from "Mogra" in Mumbai
and "Also" and "Oorja" in Hyderabad.

Chatterjee After getting the basics correct from NIFT, new delhi in the
year 2007, the time came to implement the knowledge procured. Started working
with a American buying house in delhi as a junior designer. After handling the
account of PINK DOT Collection for a year and a half KUNAL launched his own label
"KC" in early 2009. Label "KC" is highly inspired by psychedelic,
electronica and techno oriented music. Developing the avagard mind set up of a
raver is what label "KC" is all about. At the end of the day, satisfaction
of my own designing skills is the foremost criteria . "I don't believe in
selling designs which has not satisfied my designing visions. Experimentation
is wastage of raw material, time and manpower but without the involvement of all
these things master pieces can't be achievied. For me, fashion is a form of an
art which expressess my thoughts and brings them to reality. My designing philosophy
as tomorrow's fashion designer is being futureistic , original, crazy, creative
, innovative and combining fashion with music , psycadelia , and young exubarating

Laksmi Jagmohan Brought up in Mumbai, marriage welcomed
me to Bangalore. I have done MMS in Finance from Bombay University. I had a flair
for art and design from a very young age and used to design my own clothes, but
never thought of taking up a professional course in fashion designing then. Slowly,
I began designing for my new-found friends in Bangalore and this re-kindled my
interest in creating new designs with the fabric I had in front of me. This turned
into a passion as I began enjoying myself. My husband, Jagmohan, along with my
sister and mother encouraged me to open my own boutique "AAKRUTI", named
after my daughter, first, at Koramangala, and now at Sarjapur Road. I have, since,
been designing for the past 16 years.
A one-year course in Fashion
Designing at the ALT-Training College helped me tune up my technical knowledge
regarding designing and pattern-making.
My passion for designing got
recognised when I was the only Indian selected to represent our country at the
Brother Cup - International Young Fashion Designers' Contest held at Beijing,
China, in April 2000, where I received the Country Award.
After having
customised for a long period, I finally launched my own label 3 ½ years
ago. Since then, there has been no looking back and opened a retail outlet at
the TOTAL MALL, Sarjapur Road.
I have always believed in following
my dreams and never give up, knowing that there would be a day when I would be
able to show case my work to the people. Some are lucky enough to get an opportunity
early in life; some get it late like me. But, its BETTER LATE THAN NEVER, isn't
it??
Rehane's
first tryst with Indian fashion came when she took the best designer award at
the Femina Miss India 1996 even before she launched her label. Subsequently "REHANE"
the label started retailing from various stores across India. She also supplied

Parihar: 28yrs old post-graduate in fashion designing & also a national award
winner in painting competition during school time started his journey in fashion
industry with CTC Group Delhi as asst designer & soon promoted as a designer.
After having an experience about designing & marketing in fashion industry,
he moved for some free-lancing for corporate & media. He did corporate fashion
shows for different companies like DLF Group, Chevrolet, Blenders’ Pride
& also did some costume designing which include a highly acclaimed music video
by Punjabi Pop-Star ‘MIKA’.

of the Indian Embassy. Ramesh Dembla's designs have crossed the
shores of India and gone as far as Los Angeles. In fact, it was Ronn Moss - the
famous American actor, musician and singer/songwriter, best known for portraying
Ridge Forrester in the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful noticed his label
in LA. So, when he was in India, he made it a point to get in touch with me and
even walked the ramp for him. Most of his fashion shows are stubbed with
long list of show stoppers that include Mrs. World and Bollywood stars like Ria
Sen, Sofie Choudhary, Jacqueline Fernandez, Aarti Chabria, Smilie Suri, Shaurya
Chauhaan. His fashion shows also witness special appearances by stars like Rithesh
Deshmukh, Neal Nitin Mukesh, Samir Dattani and Sreesanth. Down in
south several Sandal Wood Stars like Ramya, Sharmila Mandre, Sanjana and Nidhi

of the team, Nikhil Mehra pursued his Masters in Fashion from Fashion Institute
of Design & Merchandise (FIDM), Los Angeles, while Shantanu completed his
MBA in finance from Ohio State University. Thereafter, Nikhil worked directly
under Mrs. Gray for St. John Knits, while Shantanu was with the corporate finance
wing of General Motors. Their love affair with USA ended in 1999, after which
both came back to India to chase their dreams of launching a fashion brand that
could be housed in the very essence of a business of fashion set-up. "We
believe that we are the best combination of art and commerce in the creative world
of fashion. This mindset is what prompted us to cross-synergise our respective
backgrounds into something worthwhile that could withstand the pressures of the
ever-challenging and the ever-evolving fashion industry". Hence, the birth
of Shantanu & Nikhil in 2000 These daring designers were among
the first to venture into the business of redesigning an entire look for the Indian
superstar, Amitabh Bachchan, in a look which took Gaming on Indian Television
by storm. Today, some of the leading sports personalities of the world (like Serena
Williams, Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, Glen McGrath, Stephen Fleming) and Bollywood

From
an early age, Sharad Raghav's textbooks were filled with doodles of cuffs, collars
and so on. Lesser known then, was the fact that these doodles would soon translate
into Fashion Illustrations, a rich traditional vocabulary of Indian Art and craft.
Hailing from the princely state of Rajasthan, Sharad perused medicine in his initial
years. However the blossoming romance of 6 years, amid Fashion and him eventually
gave birth to Sharad Raghav, the label as we see it today. His tryst with
accolades came from the internship days in Delhi, and winning the Best Designer
Award in the Creative outfit round finally brought him to Mumbai in 2004. His
initial days saw him experiment with various designs, be it Launch of Zero for
Ogilvy & Mather, Absolute Vanilla for Percept D'Mark or the International
Watch Show, at the World Trade centre. His adroitness to amalgamate jewellery
and textiles caught the eye of Jewellery houses like D'damas, Gitanjali and Agni.
His noticeable achievements include the Ethnic Ghagra-Choli designed for Ms. Natasha
Suri for the Miss World 2006 contest; Cover shoots for Femina, Women's Era, Rivaaz
(Asia Pacific Publication), Cineblitz, among others. Agni Diamond's showcasing
at JW Marriott, Tahiti Pearls annual show at The Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai, Atharav
College of Fashion tie up with Milan Fashion School, Diamond Show for DTC, among
others, paved his way to his alliance with Bollywood and Indian Primetime Television. Sharad
has been styling for the prestigious Indian Television Awards, since 2005. Furthermore,
he bagged the Sahara Star Ad campaign and various Television serials on Prime
Time Channels. In 2008, Sharad was appointed Exclusive Designer for Manish Creation
Kolkata, with a focus of creating trendsetting designs in Sherwani's and Kurta's.
Sharad shyly defines his design philosophy as "Sui Generis Personalized
Perfection". He aims to create "Personas" not just designs. The
Sharad Raghav label dresses both men and women with equal savoir-faire. The

of the sixteen finalist of star ones reality show Lakme Fashion House , where
Swapnil was first runner up . The brand Swapnil Shinde a mere 3 yr old label has
rapidly become One of the favourite's amongst india's young and sexy models, Celebrities
and jet-sets...
The brand revolves around trying to find the possibility of
a balance between the two extreme terms, 'sexy' without being cheap or crude,
and 'elegant' without being boring or matronly.
Apart from styling various
celebrities like, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta , Mughda Godse, Amrita Rao, Soha
Ali Khan , shweta salve , Shweta bhardwaj , to name a few, he has just finished
designing costumes for ideam production "Fired" starring Rahul Bose.
He has also designed few key looks for Madhur Bhandarkar's movie "Fashion"
specially for Priyanka Chopra, people pictures "99" starring kunal khemu

Graduating
from Northern India Institute of Fasion Design, Mohali from Knitwear Design Technology,
